2013
Patrick Lundberg, President/CEO and Founder of Outstate Brewing Company, began brewing craft beer in his basement in Fergus Falls, MN, in 2013, while working full‑time as a Young Life area director for Otter Tail County, MN.
2019
Ground was broken on the brewery in January 2019 during a challenging winter. By October, the facility was completed, equipment installed, and staff hired.
2019
Outstate Brewing opened its doors the day before Thanksgiving 2019, on the scenic banks of the Otter Tail River in downtown Fergus Falls, offering a beautiful location and exceptional craft beer to “Experience Greater” in outstate Minnesota.
2020
Business started strong but faced significant challenges when COVID‑19 struck. A government‑mandated shutdown in March 2020 forced the brewery to close completely, though beer production continued in preparation for reopening.
2020
Limited operations resumed thanks to a large patio and overhead doors, providing a lifeline during restrictions. However, subsequent closures in the fall tested the resilience of the new business, yet again.
2023
The dedicated staff and community support played a crucial role in helping Outstate persevere through these challenges. The brewery now consistently offers 15 or more beers on tap, along with food options like Ole & Lena’s pizza, and weekend food trucks.
2024
Outstate expanded its offerings by opening a full‑service coffee bar. This new addition has quickly become a favorite coffee stop. Guests praise the unparalleled atmosphere, friendly staff, and stunning views that make each visit a memorable experience.
